10 Hard To Kill Video Game Bosses That Would Drive You Into Rage Play

The era of video games brought about a new form of entertainment to the industry. Regardless of the console, gamers can agree to one thing: Video Game Bosses usually put up quite a fight. Depending on what game you play, these bosses typically require more than skill to defeat. Because of this, repeating the mission or battle is nothing out of the ordinary. Still, nothing beats the satisfying feeling you get after finishing a game. With that, here are some of the Video Game Bosses that prove hard to kill.

Skolas from Destiny: House of Wolves

Skolas from Destiny: House of Wolves

Destiny Wiki

The Destiny game series is notoriously known for its challenging gameplay. However, Skolas, the boss of the story mission ‘Queen’s Ransom’ and ‘Prison of Elders’ challenge ‘Skolas’ Revenge’ is something else. In ‘Queen’s Ransom,’ capturing Skolas is the primary objective. After this, Queen Mara Sov imprisons Skolas in the Prison of Elders. Your next encounter with Skolas will be in ‘Skolas’ Revenge.’ Here, Skolas has 15,000 health.

Players who preferred to play the game solo found Skolas hard to beat since Skolas was not meant to be defeated alone. The developers of the game purposely set his health that high so that players would team up to beat him. Still, it would take hours for a team of hardened players to defeat this boss, so the game developers tweaked him a bit to make him easier to kill.

Derek C. Simmons from Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil Wiki

National Security Advisor Derek C. Simmons is the final Boss in Resident Evil 6. He is responsible for the terrorist attack that killed Leon’s recruiter and good friend, President Adam Benford. Because of the C-Virus, Simmons mutates into several different forms during the battle. Simmons transforms into the following types: Centaur, Dinosaur, Recovery Form, and Mega Fly.

Among these forms, the Dinosaur form is the strongest. When Simmons transforms into a T-Rex, he becomes overpowered. Simmons has impossibly high health. This feature primarily made him undefeatable. Also, Simmons roars would stun the player, dealing minor damage. To defeat Simmons while he is in this form, the player could use numerous objects around the map that, if used well, brings significant damage to Simmons.

The Nameless King from Dark Souls III

The Nameless King from Dark Souls III

Dark Souls III Wiki

The Dark Souls franchise is full of tough bosses throughout each game. However, The Nameless King has to be the strongest of them all. Unlike most Dark Souls bosses, The Nameless King’s attacks do not follow a pattern. Instead, he rides a stormdrake and attacks you from above. Once you kill the stormdrake, The Nameless King attacks you with his weapon, a spear, or with a series of lightning attacks.

There are some ways to defeat The Nameless King, depending on class. Still, if you do manage to defeat the stormdrake, The Nameless King is a tough opponent by himself. Once you beat him, he would come back to life, so you should come prepared for a second round.

C’Thun from World Of Warcraft

Arthur Bozonnet/Wowpedia

C’Thun’s first appearance was in World Of Warcraft in 2006. Since then, C’Thun is known to be one of the toughest enemies a player would encounter. Even then, C’Thun easily obliterated the players who dared to try to defeat it. The final encounter with C’Thun takes place in the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj. C’Thun had a green eye that would instantly kill a player in less than a second. Also, it is hard to tell which player C’Thun would attack since it is seven NPCs forming one entity. Eventually, Blizzard realized how overpowered it was, so they tweaked it to make it defeatable.

Motaro from Mortal Kombat 3

Early Gamers who spent their time in the Arcade are familiar with Motaro from Mortal Kombat 3. Not only was Motaro a difficult boss to beat, but he is also one of the game’s weirdest characters. Motaro has a centaur-like body and a long, metallic tail. Also, he had horns on his head that resembled that of a ram’s. In the game, you would encounter him just before you deal with the final boss: Shao-Khan.

Motaro gave the players a hard time. Some would even say that he is stronger than Shao-Khan himself. Motaro is widely known to be immune from projectiles, unlike the previous bosses. In some instances, he would deflect the projectiles back to the player. However, he is vulnerable to projectile attacks only if hit above the belt.

Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out

Punch-Out

Nintendo/Punch-Out Wiki

Perhaps one of the most frustrating Video Game Boss from the early video games would be Mike Tyson in Nintendo’s first Punch-Out release. Mike Tyson is hugely overpowered compared to the rest of Little Mac, the game’s protagonist’s enemies. The player would have to watch out for his unpredictable blows, knockdown uppercuts, and lightning jabs. Even Mike Tyson himself could not defeat his video game counterpart when he tried to play the game in 2013.

Bowser from Super Mario 64

Super Mario Wiki

The rise of the 3D era of the Super Mario Game Series brought about changes that veteran 2D players had to face. Bowser got his villain game up a notch in the final battle. Compared to the previous games, Bowser became very powerful and nearly undefeatable. Once Bowser started to make the ground shake by breathing fire on Mario, players found themselves in a tight position. Still, you can still beat this menacing villain via the old method: grabbing his tail and spinning him around. However, you would have to have proper timing.

The Rebel Flagship from Faster Than Light

The Rebel Flagship in Faster Than Light

Faster Than Light Wiki

The game Faster Than Light brings space dogfights to a whole new level. It is a role-playing game that put your decision-making skills as well as your determination to finish the game since it does not allow the player to make savegames. Your primary objective throughout the game is to save the Federation from the Rebellion. At the end of this game, you encounter The Rebel Flagship, a ship so powerful that could send you back to the beginning of the game if you lose. There are some ways to defeat this boss, depending on which difficulty you chose. Ultimately, your victory relies on your equipment set, augmentations used, and your overall strategy.

Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid

Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Wiki

Psycho Mantis originally was a member of FOXHOUND, an elite black-ops unit of the United States Army. Big Boss, one of the game series’ most prominent characters, formed this unit. As implied by his name, Psycho Mantis is a psychic, capable of reading minds. Mantis wears a special gas mask that prevented the thoughts of other people from clouding his own. Also, Mantis is telekinetic. Because of his abilities, Psycho Mantis is feared by many players since you could try for hours and still lose at his hands.

Despite the complexity of Psycho Mantis’ character, defeating him is fairly easy once you knew what trick to pull. Since Mantis’ telekinesis and Mind reading capabilities stand in the player’s way, the only way to defeat him would be to unplug your controller and place into a different port. Doing this would confuse Mantis, making him easier to kill. Sometimes, the greatest of tests require the simplest of solutions.

Deathstroke from Batman: Arkham Knight

Deathstroke in Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman Arkham Wiki

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Slade Wilson was part of an experimental super-soldier program that gave him enhanced strength, agility, healing factor, and intelligence. Following his discharge from the army, Slade became Deathstroke, a mercenary who quickly became considered as one of the world’s greatest assassins. In Batman: Arkham Knight, the Arkham Knight hired Deathstroke to serve as a military consultant and backup commander. Following the Arkham Knight’s defeat in the hands of Batman, Deathstroke took command of the Arkham Knight’s militia.

The Arkham Series is full of boss fights that players found very difficult, but the match between Batman and Deathstroke in Arkham Knight proved to be the most demanding. Instead of the usual hand-to-hand combat, the fight began with Batman using the Batmobile to chase after Deathstroke in Gotham City’s streets. While chasing after Deathstroke, the player would have to fend off attacks from Deathstroke’s men, manning tanks.

That concludes this list of Video Game Bosses that would drive you into rage play. If you are a serious gamer looking for a challenge, then this list is for you. These bosses are sure to put your gamer skills to the test.
