The CW's 'Arrowverse' 2017 Crossover Date Revealed, Will Span Two Nights

Since “Arrow’s” debut in 2012, The CW has launched an ambitious shared universe with its heroes. The network now boasts an impressive roster of DC Superheroes in their time slots every week. This year, the annual crossover event will span all four shows once again. The premiere date for this year’s “Arrowverse” Crossover event has just been revealed and will pit the heroes of “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Supergirl” against another looming threat. The crossover will span two nights in November.

This Year’s Two-Night “Arrowverse” Crossover Explained

During a presentation at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, The CW’s President Mark Pedowitz revealed that this year’s “Arrowverse” crossover will begin Monday, November 27th at 8 PM. It will kick off during an episode of “Supergirl” and immediately continue during “Arrow” at 9 PM (this will be the only time that the week’s “Arrow” episode will air on a Monday, apart from its regular schedule airing Thursdays at 9 PM). The crossover will then continue Tuesday during “The Flash” at 8 PM and will be capped off during “Legends of Tomorrow” at 9.

Pedowitz also explained the reason why a two-night schedule was decided upon was a “tight, concise way of doing it.” However, he also said that the “Arrowverse” crossover “may go back to four nights next year.” Last year, The CW had a solid anchor on their Fall 2016 schedule with the DC TV shows. “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Supergirl” aired from Monday to Thursday, and helped the network gain a significant amount of viewership. Ratings went on an all-time high, causing the network to earn its best ratings over the last six years.

With this “Arrowverse” crossover in mind, it’s also worth noting that the network will be increasing emotional stakes this year. The entire “Arrowverse” heroes went face to face with aliens last year; it’s definitely exciting to know what kind of danger the heroes will face which will, in turn, affect each of their emotions.
