'Marvel's Cloak and Dagger' Season 2, Episode 4 'Rabbit Hold' Recap: Darkness

Now that the cat is out of the bagMarvel’s Cloak and Dagger try to make peace with their past. As the police hunt for one, the other’s guilty conscience gnaws at her mind. Inside the unknown realm, half a person roams. However, she is not alone. Previously thought to be dead, a crooked cop returns along with the chance to clear one’s name.

On Thursday night’s episode of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) enters the realm that keeps Brigid O’Reilly’s (Emma Lahana) aggressive half and the corrupt cop Connors (J.D. Evermore). Meanwhile, Brigid’s other half gets a whiff of danger against Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph). With that, Tyrone decides to save his mom, Adina Johnson (Gloria Reuben) from the gangsters after him.

The Darkforce Dimension

Tandy hated Tyrone for keeping her in the dark about his strange absorbing power. If it were not for Aggressive Brigid heading wherever she is because of that power, Tandy would not know about Tyrone’s new ability. Inevitably, the duo knew that they have to bring her back, so Tandy volunteers to enter Tyrone’s strange portal. It took Tandy much effort to make Tyrone create the passageway since it only appeared when he is scared. Once it manifests, Tandy does not hesitate to go through it. In the comics, this is called the Darkforce Dimension, where Tyrone travels to when teleporting and it also serves as the source of his abilities.

What Tandy finds there shakes her to her core. After meeting with Aggressive Brigid, she and Tandy journey through a strange, dark mall. A particular stall stands out to Brigid. Connors, missing for over eight months, lived there ever since the night of the Roxxon explosion. However, he was not in the stall, but it indeed showed signs of occupancy. Once they leave, Tandy finds a strange-looking booth, too. It was a record store that contains various albums of the faces of the missing girls. Strangely enough, Tandy finds records with her name. As she plays the discs, she and Brigid transfer to her memories. Deciding that she had enough of what she saw, Tandy breaks the last record, only to find herself alone in the record store.

Surrender

After Tandy disappears, Tyrone receives a call from Brigid. Members of the Uptown Block, the gang they hit, are in the police station for questioning. One of the gangsters sees Tyrone’s wanted poster, so he calls their other members to find and visit Tyrone’s place. Because of this, Tyrone decides to go and fetch his mom. Once there, he does not explain what is happening to Adina, insisting on leaving for their safety. It was a close call when Tyrone’s powers suddenly stop working but luckily, Adina’s skills earned in the streets help the steal a car and escape.

Adina and Tyrone then use a bus to evade the police checkpoints but a gang member, Solomon (Joshua J. Williams), the one Tyrone saved, picks up after them. As Adina and Tyrone have a heart-to-heart moment in one of New Orleans’ old, abandoned buildings, Solomon finds them. He calls their gang as he pointed a gun at Adina and Tyrone. Tyrone, however, knew that he could trust Solomon into letting them go. Solomon tells the gang members that the cops are on their way to arrest Tyrone, which is true since Tyrone called Brigid. Brigid will bring Adina out safely in exchange for Tyrone’s surrender.

When the police arrive, Brigid attests to the SWATs’ presence. Chief Duchamp (Andrea Frankle), however, casually disregards Brigid and Adina. As the SWAT entered the building, Tyrone found himself sitting on a corner with his hands up, ready to surrender to the authorities.

Mayhem

Aggressive Brigid decided that she has no time for Tandy’s backstory. While she was caught up in what the records showed her, Brigid went back to Connors’ stall. Sure enough, Connors is there, hanging another rain poncho because of how terrified he is of Tyrone. Aggressive Brigid made a noose and quickly placed it on Connors, barely able to fight back at her. In time, Tandy finds her and stops her from killing Connors. Suddenly, the darkforce essence fills the entire room.

Tandy, Tyrone, and Connors emerge at the church. Connors makes a quick escape as he broke one of the windows. The duo has themselves in a complete mess. Aggressive Brigid is still in the Darkforce dimension, and now, Connors is on the loose. However, Tandy has one thing from the trip that could prove useful: Connors’ badge.

‘Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger’ Season 2, Episode 4 ‘Rabbit Hold’ Final Verdict

Finally, a highly important aspect of Tyrone’s power made its way to the airwaves. Although the episode did not formally name the realm, it is safe to assume, based on the portrayal that we may see more of it. After all, both Tandy and Tyrone may be stronger and wiser compared their season 1 selves, but they have much to learn. Also, to this point, we are yet to discover the runner of New Orleans’ crime ring. Whether this next antagonist is a typical crime boss or one with powers remains unknown.

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger continues Thursday, April 25th with ‘Alignment Chart’ at 9/8c on Freeform.
