Star Wars The Clone Wars Returning with 12 New Episodes

Today is a good day for Star Wars The Clone Wars fans. During the celebration for its 10th year anniversary, Dave Filoni announced that the show would be returning to Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service. Because of Disney’s abrupt purchase of Lucasfilm, the show’s last episode aired on March 2, 2013, at Cartoon Network. As a result, the events that were scheduled to release got canceled. We will finally get the closure we deserve for the show.

The show brought to life new characters that became well-loved crowd favorites. These characters include Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano, the 501st Legion’s Clone Captain Rex, the ruthless bounty hunter Cad Bane, and many more. Also, the show featured worlds both new and from the prequels. Its timeline happens between the events of ‘Star Wars Episode II: Attack of The Clones’ and ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith.’

As a long time Star Wars fan, I see this event as a massive victory for the fandom. Star Wars The Clone Wars is one of the things that kept the franchise going. Fans, both old and new, tuned in to the show to see their favorite characters. What made the show well-accepted was the lore it provided. Some episodes fixed plot holes in the prequels. Also, previously undiscussed themes in Star Wars received explanations.

Here’s the trailer for the show released in this year’s SDCC:

With that, the tensions happening in the fandom can finally cease to exist. Hopefully, the show would be instrumental in reuniting the Star Wars fans once again.
