'The Gifted' Season 2, Episode 7 'no Mercy' Recap: Mutant Heist

Now that The Purifiers made their attack, the Inner Circle strikes after weeks of extensive training in this chapter of The Gifted. Both Mutants and Anti-Mutants take bolder steps to attain their goals, all except the Mutant Underground. However, an unexpected action, in the end, costs the Mutants’ reputation.

In this week’s episode of The Gifted, the Inner Circle, led by Reeva Payge (Grace Byers), performs a heist on Creed Financial. Meanwhile, Officer Wilson (Tom O’Keefe) and Jace Turner (Coby Bell) meet with Benedict Ryan (Peter Gallagher), a public figure and a Purifier supporter. Unexpectedly, Rebecca (Anjelica Bette Fellini) commits a horrible crime.

Eventually, a confrontation between Blink and John Proudstar/Thunderbird (Blair Redford), where Blink admits what she did for the Morlocks, but insists that she did such things for Thunderbird and the rest of the failing Mutant Underground.

The Message

Officer Wilson brings Jace to a sketchy-looking barber shop for a secret meeting. Surprisingly, Jace meets the well-known Benedict Ryan, who happens to be one of The Purifiers’ most influential supporters. Ryan wishes for Jace to tell his story in his talk show. At first, Jace declines the offer. However, Jace changes his mind and agrees to be in Ryan’s show. During the day of the shoot, they receive news about the attack on Creed Financial, which strengthens his resolve.

Breaking the Bank

The Inner Circle’s plan was simple. With Quinn (Sharif Atkins), one of the bank’s administrators, in their custody thanks to Reeva, taking out the mutant detectors went smoothly. Meanwhile, the Frost Sisters  (Skyler Samuels), except Esme, took care of the bank personnel. Also, Rebecca, Lorna Dane/Polaris (Emma Dumont), and Andy Strucker (Percy Hynes White) successfully opened the vault, enabling the money transfer from the bank to the Inner Circle’s account.

They even had spare time before police response arrived. However, Rebecca wanted blood. Since the bank personnel remained inside an office, Rebecca turned them all inside out. Reeva stood there, stunned. Still, there was nothing she could do but run away as the police arrive at the scene.

‘The Gifted’ Season 2, Episode 7 ‘no Mercy’ Final Verdict

Jace Downs/FOX

Finally, we see the Inner Circle in action. Seeing them perform the heist swiftly showed the skills they possessed and that those long weeks of training have paid off. Also, the Mutant Underground continues to a downward spiral. Sadly, they never seem to do anything that brings the tide in their favor. Another member of the team losing faith in their cause would not be a surprise. Lastly, Rebecca showing her true colors, in the end, stays true to her comic book character; something that the geeky fans would appreciate.

The Gifted continues on Tuesday, November 27th with ‘the dreaM’ at 8/9c on Fox.
