'The Mick' Season 2, Episode 15 'The Juice' Recap: Gambling Games and the New Girlfriend [SPOILERS]

Call this episode one for the books! “The Mick” Season 1, episode 15 returns with “The Juice,” where nothing else matters except winning bets. Tonight we see Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) mentoring Chip (Thomas Barbusca) and his friend Dylan (guest star Griffin Gluck) about the inner workings of gambling online. Jimmy (Scott MacArthur), on the other hand, lectures Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia) on why she shouldn’t interfere with her girlfriend Alexis’ (guest star Sophia Taylor Ali) sports goals. Meanwhile, Alba (Carla Jimenez) encounters a “mysterious” phenomenon where the paralyzed Colonel (guest star EJ Callahan) seems able to move after all. However, it all ends badly as soon as Alba figures out why it’s happening.

Gambling fails and Social Climbing

“The Juice” opens with Chip and Dylan watching a game between the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Knicks seem to be gaining the upper hand, to Chip and Dylan’s delight. Mickey comes in and predicts that the Cavs are going to win—which happens 4 seconds before the game finishes. Chip and Dylan are disappointed, and Dylan wonders how Mickey was able to do it. Apparently, Mickey thinks the Knicks suck, that’s why she was able to predict their loss. Mickey was also surprised to learn that Chip and Dylan are betting on nonsense stuff over the game. She then tells them about “The Juice,” where the real gamblers siphon money off each other.
A random girl then walks into the kitchen as Jimmy arrives. They all watch her and are puzzled about who she is. She introduces herself as Alexis, and Sabrina comes in to tell them that she’s her girlfriend after kissing Alexis. Meanwhile, Alba takes the Colonel out to soak up the sun. As she fixes his dextrose, the bag bursts, forcing Alba to go in and change her clothes. As she leaves to go back to the Colonel, she suddenly finds him inside.

Later, Alexis leaves for her soccer training. Sabrina tries to make her stay, but Alexis can’t. Jimmy sees this and is disappointed at Sabrina. Jimmy thinks that Sabrina is only using her girlfriend status with Alexis so she can take advantage of Alexis’ fame.

Chip asks for ‘the real stuff.’

Desperate for “The Juice,” Chip asks Mickey to help them win a bet. At first, Mickey refuses but ultimately agrees to it when Chip promises to split it with her. Mickey then teaches Chip and Dylan how to place bets using a Russian betting website. And since Chip doesn’t want to lend his credit card, Dylan is forced to use his dad’s. Mickey tells them to bet against Tom Brady. Chip reacts against it, but Mickey assures them that it’s okay. Dylan enters the card number, and Mickey tells them to”leave it out to the gods.”
Later, Mickey, Dylan, and Chip get their hopes up during the game. However, Mickey’s advice of betting against Tom Brady didn’t work. The opposing team lost, causing Dylan to lose $100,000. This amount shocks Mickey because she thought Dylan only put in $100. She tries to huddle the boys to figure out a plan to get the money back. Unable to do so, Mickey forces Dylan out of the house. Chip guilt trips her, as the loss was Mickey’s fault in the first place. Mickey reluctantly calls Dylan back inside the house.

Sabrina’s REAL intentions

Sabrina drops by Alexis’ soccer practice. Jimmy follows her, and he tells Sabrina how these girls train hard and how he looked up their statistics. He deduces that Sabrina is subconsciously making Alexis choose between her and soccer. Since Alexis’ team is destined to win, Jimmy thinks Sabrina is a distraction. Back in the mansion, Alba sees the Colonel inside the toiletry room. She tries to make the Colonel admit his ability to walk but gets nothing.

The gambling game gets real

As Dylan panics with Mickey, they see Sabrina walking away from Jimmy, who’s out for her guilt. Jimmy then tells them about Alexis’ upcoming soccer game, and how her team is up on the winning roster. Lucky for Mickey, Dylan, and Chip, this is the opportunity they’ve been waiting.
Mickey calls in a loan shark (guest star Kirk Fox) to place her bet against Alexis’ team. Incidentally, Mickey owes him $3000, and now she’s making up for it by betting. If Mickey loses and fails to pay her debt, he will burn the Mansion to the ground. If not, then they can call it quits. They shake on it, and the betting game is on. Chip, on the other hand, panics because he thinks there’s not enough time for them to win, and he’s afraid of what the loan shark can do.

Later, Sabrina tells Mickey that Alexis broke up with her. It’s unfortunate news for Mickey because now there’s no way for them to win the bet Mickey had with the loan shark. Jimmy swaggers in in triumph, and this makes Sabrina think that it was Jimmy who pushed Alexis to break up with her. Mickey tells Sabrina that she can fix it over a romantic dinner. Encouraged, Sabrina decides to gatecrash Alexis’ dinner party with her teammates.
Meanwhile, Alba sees the Colonel near a snack cabinet with a box of cookies on his lap. Alba has none of it and hits the Colonel in the legs repeatedly, forcing him to talk.
That night, Sabrina calls Jimmy up to tell him that she’s trapped in the restroom. Alexis’ team didn’t want her there, and now they’re out to get her. The team brings Sabrina outside the restaurant, but Jimmy comes to her rescue. It all comes to a halt, however, when the soccer team gangs up on them both, resulting in a brawl with Jimmy punching the girls and sending them flying. In the end, the girls overpower Jimmy and beat him to a pulp.

The police arrive and handcuffs the girls. Jimmy, on the other hand, gets wheeled out on a stretcher. Sabrina then tries to make amends with Alexis, but she wouldn’t accept Sabrina’s apology. For Alexis, Sabrina is a shallow and mean person who thinks she’s better than everyone. It’s only then that Sabrina decides to break up.
Mickey, Chip, and Dylan arrive at the scene to find the soccer team coach complaining to the police. Obviously, they can’t play anymore since half of the team is in police custody. This news makes Mickey and the boys happy because it means that they lose the upcoming soccer match. The loan shark appears after following them, and Mickey collects her winnings. Reluctantly, she hands it over to Dylan—who also has no idea how he’s going to repay the $100,000 credit card transaction.

The episode ends with Alba confronting the Colonel for the last time, threatening to torture the truth out of him. Suddenly, Ben (Jack Stanton) appears, moves the Colonel closer to the snack cabinet, and uses him as a platform to get food. It turns out that Ben was the one moving the Colonel after all.

‘The Mick: The Juice’ Overall Verdict

Call this episode what you want, but I think that this is one of the hilarious ones in the series. It’s nice to see Sabrina and Jimmy in their storyline, and the interesting bit between Mickey and the boys is also a lesson learned for the latter. Alba’s scenes, no matter how short, gives a fresh breath of air to an otherwise self-centered and “violent” episode of “The Mick.”
“The Mick” continues next Tuesday, March 6th, with “The Accident” at 9:30 PM on FOX.
