'Watchmen' TV Series Teased On Social Media by Damon Lindelof

Although not confirmed, “Lost” and “The Leftovers'” Damian Lindelof posted a teaser that hints at the pre-production of the “Watchmen” TV series. A photo of what seems to be a very recognizable character from the comic book source material was posted by Lindelof, and fans couldn’t be more excited.
“Watchmen” is one of the most influential comic book titles ever. Written by Alan Moore and drawn by Dave Gibbons in 1986, it follows a realistic commentary on the nature of superheroes as well as a gripping story that focuses on the social problems encountered by the characters. Director Zack Snyder brought “Watchmen” to the big screen in 2009. Since then, the movie was hailed as one of the most comic book-faithful superhero movies as the looks and general content of the story echoed authenticity. This year, it was reported that Lindelof was in talks with HBO for a TV take on the superhero group.

Damian Lindelof’s Instagram tease for ‘Watchmen’

Not much is known about the TV series iteration of “Watchmen” since it was announced. Lindelof even went as far as downplaying his role for the series. However, we might just be witnessing the first unofficial announcement of the show’s pre-production. Earlier today, Lindelof posted this picture on his Instagram:

Now, this photo is obviously referring to Nite Owl, as it features a statue of the character—also featured heavily on the first few covers of the “Watchmen” comics. It was then used as a murder weapon later on in the story. Nite Owl was a part of the “Minutemen” back in the 1930s and was known as Hollis Mason in real life. The statue was given to Hollis as a token of recognition during his superhero days.
This statue has also been suggested to be one of the original props used in the 2009 film, but it hasn’t actually been confirmed. Now, either this signifies the start of production for HBO or Lindelof is haphazardly trolling the fans. But should this tease turn out to be true, we can only wait and see what the network has in store for “Watchmen.”
