'Whiskey Cavalier' Season 1, Episode 4 'Mrs. & Mr. Trowbridge' Recap: Roles

Whiskey Cavalier, Fiery Tribune, and their team finally sort their group dynamic. After their last successful mission saves them from disbandment, they head to Paris, France, to infiltrate a wedding. The bride’s father, an exiled Romanian General, threatens to kill his people using a bioweapon. Now, Team Whiskey uncomfortably disguises themselves to capture the General and save innocent lives from death.

In this week’s episode of Whiskey Cavalier, Agent Will Chase (Scott Foley) and Agent Frankie Trowbridge (Lauren Cohan) reluctantly pose as a couple to infiltrate a wedding. The bride, Iona (Erika Kaar) is General Andrei Zimbrean’s (Razvan Vasilescu) daughter. Also, the groom, Paul (Joe Doyle) works undercover with them. Meanwhile, Jai Datta (Vir Das) and Edgar Standish (Tyler James Williams) clash once again. At home, Susan Sampson (Ana Ortiz) feels left out while everyone is out doing fieldwork.

Romanian Genocidal Maniac

General Andrei Zimbrean has a stash of a dangerous bioweapon. Right after his daughter, Iona’s wedding, he plans to release it and kill his people. Iona’s fiancé, Paul, is an undercover Interpol Agent and has been monitoring General Zimbrean for over five years. Now, the Bureau assigns Team Whiskey to work with Paul to intercept the General and stop him from committing mass murder.

Technical Difficulties

Edgar and Jai often clash ever since they started working together. Edgar prefers a messy workplace, and he has no system of organizing his articles. Jai, on the other hand, is a control freak. He is highly controlling and is very meticulous, and this has helped him in his work. However, his behavior makes it hard for people to deal with him, hence his clashes with Edgar. Still, Team Whiskey’s Tech Guys eventually get along as Jai apologizes to Edgar in his own, adorable way.

Left Behind

Unfortunately, Susan’s profiling skills are necessary for finding the General through waves of the wedding’s guests, so she has to stay behind. On the field, Will and Frankie clash, making Will unintentionally lash out on Susan. Because of this, Susan let her bad feeling about being left behind take over. Luckily, Ray Prince (Josh Hopkins) comes over to Team Whiskey’s headquarters. Susan was off comms, and the team needed her help. Ray reassures her that sitting the mission out does not necessarily mean that she is not required. On the contrary, her skills are an invaluable asset to the team. With that, Susan returns to the comms and leads the team to take the right course of action.

Role Playing

To infiltrate the wedding, Will and Frankie pose as Mr. & Mrs. Flemming. Will’ s disguise is Dan Flemming, Paul’s old college buddy. Frankie, on the other hand, is Mary Flemming, Dan’s loving wife. As usual, Will and Frankie fight over their differences. Frankie criticizes Will for mixing his emotions with the mission at hand. Will, on the other hand, points out Frankie’s unconventional, emotionless approach when it comes to carrying out their objectives. Also, they almost lose their cover when assassin Michelle Ito (Lourdes Faberes) recognizes Will.

Throughout the mission, Will and Frankie each get an instance to prove themselves to each other. Frankie attracts Vasily Chebu (Costin Sforaru), a wedding guest, to gain intel on the General’s whereabouts. On the other hand, Will joins Paul to strategize a new plan when the General does not show up as scheduled. Before the wedding day, Will and Frankie argue once more. When they join forces to drug and abduct the General fails since he used a body double, Will and Frankie finally decide to leave for Romania, thinking that the General is there.

Thanks to Susan’s intervention, Will and Frankie get their heads straight and spot General there, wearing a disguise.  In contrast to Will and Frankie, Paul has trouble with carrying out the mission. Paul fell in love with Iona, and this kept him from shooting General Zimbrean and Iona’s escape vehicle. Fortunately, Jai and Edgar track their location, sending the Agents to stop Zimbrean’s runaway plane. A dramatic series of events ensue when Iona and Andrei exit the aircraft while the Agents aim to arrest him. Iona turns on her father, giving Frankie the chance to shoot the General’s leg. With the mission done, Paul and Iona enjoy their wedding. Sadly, Will and Frankie’s potential to have a relationship bitterly ends as Will turns down Frankie’s attempt to emotionally connect with him.

‘Whiskey Cavalier’ Season 1, Episode 4 ‘Mrs. & Mr. Trowbridge’ Final Verdict

This episode takes the leads on an emotional roller coaster. Will and Frankie unintentionally hurt each other while they accomplish the mission. The rest of the team experience conflict as well, but they manage to compromise. The future of Will and Frankie’s partnership, whether it becomes romantic or remains professional, is quite hard to determine at this point.

Whiskey Cavalier continues Wednesday, March 27th, with ‘The English Job’ at 10/9c on ABC.
