Fox's X-Men Series 'The Gifted' New Trailer Emphasizes Family As Power

The newest trailer for Fox’s upcoming X-Men TV series “The Gifted” has just dropped. The new X-Men TV show premieres later this year and follows the story of a pair of teenage mutants and their family on the run from the government as they learn about the pair’s new powers. The latest trailer puts emphasis on the family aspect of the story and also suggest that it will also be as much of a thriller as it is a superhero show.

Various clips and trailers have been released for “The Gifted,” with the most recent one premiering during the San Diego Comic-Con. We now know that one of the mutants’ parents will resign his post working for the government agency “Sentinel Services” as he learns about his kids’ powers. This agency is responsible for hunting mutants down, and so he will be forced to switch sides to protect his family. The new trailer also features themes of family and how the parents will take on their roles in knowing about what their children could do.

How ‘The Gifted’ and The X-Men Overlaps

Like “Legion,” “The Gifted” won’t be your typical X-Men TV show. Rather than it focusing on big villains and powerful foes, the show’s narrative will focus on a more personal story. It will also treat the mutants as the villains themselves, as they are forced to evade the government from tracking them down. The mutants won’t necessarily be evil, but more so as an antagonist of the human race.

One of the central mysteries of “The Gifted” will also be about the X-Men themselves, and what happened to them. We know that the show won’t be set in the same universe as the movies, but the X-Men will still play a vital role in the series.

“The Gifted” will premiere Monday, October 2 on Fox.
