Third Star Wars Anthology Movie To Be Announced Next Month

It looks like were getting more “Star Wars Anthology” films in the next years ahead. Recently, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed that an official anthology movie announcement will be coming to us very soon.

The film will follow the previous Gareth Edwards-directed “Rogue One” and the upcoming “Han Solo” spinoff directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. These movies were regarded with huge skepticism at one point; but once the former came out, it proved everyone wrong as it did not disappoint box office wise and critically. Some even said that these movies would be a forgettable episode in-between for the franchise. Oh how the tables have turned!

Would The Next Star Wars Anthology Be About Boba Fett or Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Kennedy confirmed the news in an interview with Vanity Fair. “We haven’t identified it yet, but yes. We have a couple of things right now that we’re circling, and we’ll make a decision between the two pretty shortly. It’s probably for 2020, and we will make a decision by June,” Kennedy said.

The question obviously shift towards the character in which the “Star Wars Anthology” movie will be focused on. The rumors have since been going lightspeed, with everything from a solo Yoda movie, Boba Fett and even Ewan McGregor going back to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi. McGregor has stated that he is open to doing the role again, whenever the studio calls it.

If we were given the chance to pick, Obi-Wan would be the most prospective choice among the prospects. He was arguably the character who stood out the most in the prequels, and it’s just fitting for him to get a proper story in between “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope.”

But it’s also possible that Lucasfilm will do the same with “Rogue One” for a “Star Wars Anthology” film. Introducing new characters and stories within the vast “Star Wars” universe has proven to be an effective selling point for the franchise. The possibilities are endless, and we can’t wait to find out what the studio will be settling with for the next “Star Wars” story.
